Record of international activities
Connect Europ was formed by Mike Stokes to bring together the international development work he was involved in through a wide range of different organisations and international bodies. These included his full-time international development roles on behalf of two of the UK's largest local ediucation authorities, and a wide variety of voluntary roles with bodies like International Social and Educational Exchanges (ISEE), the Co-ordinating Committee for European Youth Exchanges (CC-EYE), the European Youth Centre, the International Sonnenberg Association, Mobility International and a number of others. Some examples of the range of activities that Connect Europ, and Mike Stokes himself have sucessfully organised include:
- A large number of school and youth exchanges throughout Europe and Central and Eastern Europe including the development
and management of large annual exchanges programmes - The organisation of a ten-month course in a Scottish College of Further Education in 1993/94 for 34 students from the Siberian region
of Yakutia inlluding hosting, the organisation of a social programme and UK transport (budget £250,000) - The organisation of a number of specialist professional study visits and courses both within the UK and out to other countries e.g. on
behalf of the Russian Ministry of Taxes - Organisation of a number of multinational conferences, symposia and training courses held in venues throughout Europe e.g. a speciaist
insurance based conference in Edinburgh involving 85 delegates (including four members of the Russian State Duma) (budget £37,000) - A twice-yearly project, now in its sixteenth year, bringing German school children from Bavaria to the UK for one-term placements in local
